Welcome to The Maysville Voice, the newsletter for those who reside and vote in the Maysville District in Buckingham County. I am pleased to bring you much information, links, and resources to inform and engage with you as your County Supervisor.

As you know, I am happy to have endorse who I know will be my successor, Paul Garrett, a staunch supporter of public education, and other core services, such as law enforcement, solid waste, safe roads, supporting our county employees, economic development efforts, diverse revenue streams, and being fiscally conservative with taxpayer’s dollars.
During this installment, I focus on the Supervisor representing the James River District/District 5, Supervisor Harry W. Bryant, Jr.
I join Chairman Joe N. Chambers Jr. in endorsing Harry Bryant (Independent) for re-election. Chairman Chambers did so last night at the NAACP Candidates Forum and I am very proud to join him.
For many years, he has represented my “old home” of Glenmore, where I was raised. My family has stood with his family for many generations, notably, my grandfather, L.L. “Dick” Miles, who, along with Harry, were integral in establishing the Glenmore Volunteer Fire Department, where Harry remains a member. Harry has given so much to his district and its people, not only in his years of service to the Board of Supervisors, serving as past Chairman and on numerous key committees, but as a past volunteer founding member of the Glenmore Rescue Squad.
Supervisor Bryant, who serves with me on the Committee on the Gold Mining Study, has been a steadfast supporter of fiscal conservativism (he voted with many of us in lowering your real estate tax rate in 2020 due to COVID-19), supporting our public schools, renovating the Glenmore Rescue Squad Building to serve his district for better health outcomes, supporting law enforcement, working with VDOT to improve many roads in his district, working to expand broadband access across his district, and much more. He and I were among the first boots on the ground to visit the site of the gold mine exploration.
If you vote to re-elect Supervisor Harry W. Bryant Jr., your vote will be one for added value for someone who will work to represent the diverse values of the James River District.
