I’m fortunate and blessed to say that my family has lived in Buckingham County for more than 250 years. I was raised in a log cabin my father built in the Glenmore community, and I come from a long line of blacksmiths, farmers, merchants, business people and public servants.
My heart is in this community. I am a proud graduate of Buckingham County Public Schools, where I received a stellar education that prepared me for Longwood University, where I majored in history, geography and political science.
Faith, trust and hard work have been instilled in me by my family, notably by my late grandparents, L.L. “Dick” Miles and Hazel Miles, who operated a general store for 40 years in the village of Glenmore. They, along with my father and mother, taught me that with these three principles, along with a positive attitude, can help you do just about anything you want — and now I want to represent you on the Board of Supervisors.
Just as my grandfather was, I am a moderate Democrat. Like him, I stand for principled leadership, integrity, and faith in my fellow man and woman.
Though being a moderate Democrat who is fiscally conservative is my heritage, it does not defines me. Being a public servant does.
In my many roles of leadership, I’ve found that how you do something is just as important as what you do. That philosophy guides me to treat people with dignity and respect, while listening to their issues and opinions, and always, above all else, having a civil dialogue.
It’s my honor to seek and earn your support and vote, as we live, work and play here in Buckingham County.
I want to hear from you about your issues, concerns and the direction Buckingham County is headed. Call or text me at 434-390-7023, or email me at email@example.com. I live at 13170 West James Anderson Highway, Buckingham, Virginia 23921.
