Welcome to The Maysville Voice, the newsletter for those who reside and vote in the Maysville District in Buckingham County. I am pleased to bring you much information, links, and resources to inform and engage with you as your County Supervisor.

This will be the final installment of The Maysville Voice.

Some topics we will be considering or hearing about during our meeting on this Monday include: Consideration of a recommendation from our Solar Committee regarding our adding language to our Solar Policy; public hearings regarding the Siting Agreement connected to the approved Blue Rock Solar Application that was approved last month, which will see $3 million to the County; a public hearing for a 5 megawatt community solar garden project near Route 60 East; a public hearing regarding a proposed adult home/assisted living facility in New Canton; zoning introductions for a 199’ monopole cell tower and rezoning the soccer field on Main Street near the playground as recreation; and committee recommendations regarding purchase of a new solid waste vehicle (replacing the wrecked one); a new county vehicle to be purchased with American Plan Rescue Act (ARPA) funds, and a recommendation to support our public schools.

We will also be discussing VDOT matters (I always welcome your roadway issues). Please contact me regarding any of these topics before the meeting!

Our upcoming Board of Supervisors regular meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2023 in the Peter Francisco Board Room in the County Administration Complex on Route 60. I encourage you to attend to learn more about your County Government and how your tax dollars are spent. If you’re unable to attend in person, you can view our meeting live here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfIL3rVTUEqgxBwXCQoBDTA.

Passing the Torch: Joint Town Hall Meeting with Supervisor-Elect Paul Garrett & School Board Member Joii Goodman on Next Saturday Morning at 10 AM

Paul Garrett, who ran as an Independent, won the November election to succeed me as the Maysville District Supervisor. A former longtime public school teacher who I endorsed, Paul lives on Troublesome Creek Road, and has lived in Buckingham his entire life. Being a former educator, Paul understands the needs of our schools and what it takes to prepare our youth for a successful livelihood as they build their lives here.

He, alongside myself and School Board Member Joii Goodman, who won his November election also, will hold a Join Virtual Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at 10 AM to answer your questions and to update you on our respective Board’s actions.

Here is how to join us!
