Welcome to The Maysville Voice, the newsletter for those who reside and vote in the Maysville District in Buckingham County. I am pleased to bring you much information, links, and resources to inform and engage with you as your County Supervisor.
Some topics we will be considering or hearing about during our meeting on this Monday include: A public hearing on the roughly 150 megawatt solar project on about 2,000 acres of property in Northern Buckingham (which I visited today for a lengthy period of time, which now has new, and more restrictive proposed conditions to ensure the quality of life for residents and landowners there), a new request for a public hearing for a much more small-scale solar facility, a Planning Commission appointment for District 7 and our Maysville District, an update on the redistricting process, and an update on our EMS Department (Rescue Squad Transition).
Our upcoming Board of Supervisors regular meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, in the Peter Francisco Board Room in the County Administration Complex on Route 60. I encourage you to attend to learn more about your County Government and how your tax dollars are spent. If you’re unable to attend in person, you can view our meeting live here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfIL3rVTUEqgxBwXCQoBDTA.

Ongoing Dialogue with CenturyLink

As you know, I have been fighting hard to get CenturyLink to restore telephone and internet outages, but more importantly, upgrade their infrastructure.
This week, I had a productive meeting with the CenturyLink/Lumen representative during the Governor’s Rural Summit at Longwood University regarding upgrading their infrastructure, funding sources for enhanced services, and expanded maintenance for existing clients. I was pleased with our discussion and am hopeful for additional investment in infrastructure and fewer telephone outages.
