The Maysville Voice: Upcoming Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, 6 PM Board Meeting: Honoring the late Supervisor John Kitchen; Two SUP Hearings; Reappointment/Appointment Considerations; Animal Rabies Vaccination Event; Recording of Gold Mine Study Committee; and More

Welcome to The Maysville Voice, the newsletter for those who reside and vote in the Maysville District in Buckingham County. I am pleased to bring you lots of information, links, and resources to inform and engage with you as your County Supervisor. This newsletter is filled with lots of resources and information for our Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022 Board Meeting, which I hope you will consider attending.

Take note that this month we will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 11, not Monday, Oct. 10 due to the Columbus Day Holiday the County observes.

We don’t have an overloaded agenda for next week. We have no new zoning cases to consider, though we do have two Special Use Permit hearings for two Air BnBs, campsites, and event venues; a separate public hearing on adjusting some building permit ordinance fees; a presentation of a resolution in memoriam to the family of the late John Kitchen Jr., who served honorably for many years as the Maysville District Supervisor; a consideration of reappointments to the Planning Commission and Industrial Development Authority; appointment of a new board member to the Anti-Litter Task Force; and consideration of a recommendation regarding pit privies.

Please make sure to pay close attention to what you sign up for to speak as you must sign up and be recognized before speaking during public comment or any public hearing.

Our upcoming Board of Supervisors regular meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on
Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, in the Peter Francisco Board Room in the County
Administration Complex on Route 60. I encourage you to attend to learn more
about your County Government and how your tax dollars are spent. If you’re
unable to attend in person, you can view our meeting live here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfIL3rVTUEqgxBwXCQoBDTA.

Here is a link where our agenda and full Board Packet is posted: https://buckinghamcountyva.org/administration/boards___commissions/board_of_supervisors/board_agenda_minutes_youtube.php.

Should you have any questions or concerns about anything contained in the
packet or on the agenda, please reach out to me. My contact information is
below at the end of this newsletter.

Public Comments may be made in person by using the following
method:  In person Public Comments must sign up to speak.  Sign up
times are 5:30 p.m. to 5:55 p.m. Again please be cognizant of what you sign up
for to speak to as if you don’t sign up you won’t be allowed to speak on
Tuesday.

When you speak, please state your name, district, address, and which hearing
you are commenting on. The three (3) minute rule will apply to public comments.

Recording of the Latest Statewide Gold Mine Committee Meeting

Here is the recording of our latest Statewide Gold Mine Committee Meeting, which I hope you’ll take a look and listen at. Joe Lerch, of the Virginia Association of Counties, outlined how local zoning works and noted ways Boards of Supervisors could ban gold mining in their Zoning Ordinances with ease.
